Q: How can I make certain that MSU has my Math Placement Service (MPS) Exam scores?
A:
If you successfully submitted the exam for scoring, then MSU has received your scores; however,
other reassurance is also available. Please wait for a few days after taking
the MPS Exam, then go to [MSU StuInfo]. You will find
your MPS Exam score info. there.
Q: How can I find out what my score means?
A:
Go to [Placement into
Mathematics Courses at MSU].
Q: How can I get answers to my questions about entry-level mathematics courses?
A:
Please begin by reading [Basic
Course Information for Advisors and Advisees]
and [Preparing
for MSU Math].
Q: How can I get answers to questions about transferring
university credits?
A:
Go to [Transferring Credits to MSU]; otherwise, please contact
the Office of Admissions (517 355-8332) directly.
Q: How can I get answers to all of my other
questions about admission and enrollment at MSU?
A: Go to the [Office
of Admissions Website]; otherwise, please contact
the Office of Admissions (517 355-8332) directly.
Q: How can I get answers to other questions that are specifically about the Math
Placement Service?
A: For your quickest answers to most questions, read the [Basic Info.]
coversheet for the exam first, and the [FAQ] next.
If the answers you seek really are not found in either document, then call 1-800-500-1554. From this general
MSU 800 number, trained university operators will refer you to appropriate venues where your questions most
likely can be answered both quickly and correctly.
NOTE: Neither the Office of Admissions nor the Department of Mathematics is equipped to answer questions
about the Math Placement Service Exam. Please use the 800 number above!
BEFORE SUBMITTING A QUESTION TO THE E-MAIL ADDRESS GIVEN BELOW, PLEASE MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE ANSWER IS
NOT GIVEN ELSEWHERE, WITHIN THE BASIC INFO, THE FAQ DOCUMENT, OR THE REFERENCES GIVEN WITHIN
THOSE DOCUMENTS, AND THAT THE QUESTION SPECIFICALLY CONCERNS THE MATH PLACEMENT SERVICE EXAM. For
example, questions about [who must take the exam], [obtaining
your score], or [what your
score means] are NOT appropriate, since these questions are answered elsewhere. Questions sent to
mps@math.msu.edu
will be answered on a first come, first served basis. This e-mail address is NOT a high-capacity information
service; so, quick replies are not possible and should not be expected, particularly between mid-March and mid-July!
